Description

Brake Module for Radial Arm Saws

Enhance the safety and efficiency of your Radial Arm Saw with the Brake Module from Original Saw Company. This essential component gives your saw a smooth and reliable stop every time, minimizing downtime and improving operator safey.

Key Features

  • Enhanced Safety: Reduces blade stop time significantly, minimizing the risk of accidents.
  • Superior Compatibility: Works seamlessly with all Original Saw models that do not contain a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD).
  • Easy Installation: Designed for user-friendly installation, requiring minimal tools or expertise, allowing for quick integration into your saw system.

When to Replace

  • The Brake Stops Functioning Correctly
    • Hard Starts or Tripping Out: If the brake doesn’t release properly, the saw may start hard or trip out during startup.
    • Stuck Brake: A stuck brake prevents the motor and shaft from spinning freely, making operation difficult.
  • Visible Damage
    • Burnt or Charred Spots: Inspect the circuit board for burnt or charred areas.
    • Leakage: Look for fluid leakage from the large cylinder on the module.
    • Broken Capacitors: Check for damaged capacitors or other visible wear on the module board.
  • Extended Stop Time
  • Burned-Out Brake Coil
    • If the brake coil burns out, replace the coil and the brake module simultaneously. A failed coil can damage the module, so addressing both components together ensures proper functionality.

Brake Module Replacement and Brake Adjustment Instructions

What is the purpose of the Brake Module in a Radial Arm Saw?

It works with the brake coil and disc to reduce the blade’s stopping time so that Radial Arm Saws stop quickly and reliably.

Which Original Saw models are compatible with the Brake Module?

All Original Saw Company Radial Arm Saws and Beam Saws are compatible, except for Model 3512 types 1-3 or saws with a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD).

Can the Brake Module be used with DeWalt Radial Arm Saws?

It’s compatible with all DeWalt 3500 Super Duty and Heavy Duty Series Radial Arm Saws that were originally equipped with a brake.

When is the time to replace the Brake Module?

It may be time to replace it if the brake stops functioning correctly. Signs include:

  • Leakage from the large cylinder on the module
  • Burnt or charred spots on the circuit board
  • The brake doesn’t release and the saw starts hard or trips out while trying to start.

Inspect and replace the module if you notice any of these issues.
